The Seahorse Express Sales Executive is responsible for the selling Transportation & Logistic Freight Services to new and existing business customers. This is accomplished through effective selling by cold-calling, earning referrals, and company-generated leads.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, used to and enjoys a fast-paced work environment, a problem solver, and focused on helping our customers.

Location: This position is based in our office in the Houston Metro area

Job Duties:

  • Cultivate and maximize new opportunities developed through:
    • Hunting - Cold Calling for new customers.
    • Customer database mining as delegated by Director of Sales.
    • Inbound customer inquiries.
    • Referrals through your pipeline.
    • Mass marketing to your pipeline.
  • Attend regularly scheduled team meetings via Zoom.
  • Respond to company-generated inquiries and customer support calls.
  • Qualify customer’s ability to purchase.
  • Evaluate customer needs during the initial meeting.
  • Prepare and present proposals/quotes.
  • Manage appropriate and timely proposal follow-up.
  • Return all customer calls with urgency.
  • Enter all sales activity in web-based CRM (HubSpot) daily.
  • Send emails and customer communication through CRM. (HubSpot)
  • Achieve and exceed sales targets established by Seahorse Express, Inc.
  • Coordinate and support service efforts as requested or required.
  • Become familiar with Seahorse sales reporting.
  • Other tasks and responsibilities deemed necessary to continuously succeed, increase sales, and satisfy customer needs.

  • Base salary per year based upon experience level + Performance Based Commissions.

  • Minimum one-year successful Transportation & Logistics sales experience preferably with a 3PL.
  • Work from the local Houston office unless approved otherwise.
  • Ability to help solve customer problems arising after regular business hours.

  • Price RFPs (spot and contractual) with precision and accuracy, ensuring profitability and competitive advantage.
  • Forge strategic alliances with key carrier partners, positioning Seahorse Express for success and amplifying our ability to deliver on our commitments.
  • Mentor and guide new team members, nurturing their talent and helping them flourish in the logistics arena.
  • Efficiently coordinate a diverse array of transportation modes for our esteemed accounts, ensuring smooth sailing from origin to destination.

  • 3+ years of 3PL/Brokerage experience required.
  • 1+ year of supervisory or management experience required.
  • Must be familiar with how to navigate a TMS system.
  • Must have experience with pricing truckload costs on a periodic and spot market basis.

 Preferred Skills:

Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Logistics or Analytics is preferred, but not required.
Proven track record of success in operations management, including experience with carrier relations, dispatching and routing.
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve exceptional results.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, carriers, and team members at all levels.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex operational issues.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teams, Outlook, etc.
A customer-centric mindset, with a strong commitment to delivering the highest level of service to our clients and carriers.
